What We Do
An Overview of What We Do
Discovery Church Swindon is a Multi-Cultural, Pentecostal church based in Swindon that now meets in three different locations! Since 2004 the church has grown steadily from about 40 to more than 200 people meeting each Sunday… if you want to join a church that is going places why not join us this Sunday!
Hi, my name is Tom Price and I am the senior Leader of Discovery Church Swindon! Thank you for visiting our website. Discovery Church Swindon is an Assemblies of God church which means that we are Pentecostal in our beliefs and practices.
This church began about 30 years ago as a result of a church planting initiative by the Old Town Assemblies of God. Today more than 200 people meet in our various services every Sunday in Wroughton, The Parks and in the town centre.
Our church is filled with children, young people, families and the elderly. We value each as a significant part of our family. That means we place an emphasis upon vibrant children’s work, our totally cool youth work and our engaging Sunday services.
So what should you expect when you arrive at the Ellendune Centre on a Sunday Morning?
The first thing would be plenty of handshakes and smiles at the entrance, followed by an energetic and passionate time of worship led by one of our three worship bands, which would include praise, reading of the scriptures and the free use of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. After about 30 minutes of worship the children leave to attend their Sunday school classes which we call “Explorers” led by our very own Dr Keith Hooper and a dedicated team. This is usually followed by communion and teaching from God’s word. For a sample of our teaching please feel free to download or listen to a sermon online from the Resources Tab above.
There are 5 areas of ministry that we focus on as a church. They are: Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, Mission and Worship.
We’re engaged in providing care to our community through a number of different initiatives, two examples would be that we operate a Christians Against Poverty Centre which provides free debt counselling to all in Sundry and a particularly excellent mothers and toddlers group that meets in the Ellendune on most Wednesdays during term time.
Finally I’d like to mention that we have a full time youth worker that means we have an excellent youth ministry in the church. Come and find out more.
Why not try us this Sunday?
